Hee-Hee

That's Cait's nickname :) I don't quite remember how that one came about, but that's what we all call her. It gets some pretty funny looks when we're out and about. :)

I wanted to practice my manual skills so I made her model for me. Unfortunately that meant I had to model for her. I'll save those for another post. ;)

Funny thing about me is I love to photograph people, but I do.not.like.posing. Half the time I have no idea what to do with their arms and legs. Practice makes perfect right? And I have to practice with her now since she won't be around  much longer. 

That makes it sound like I'm about to poison her or something. o_O

Let me clarify...

She is going to MO in December for an internship for an unknown period of time, so I'm going to have no model for a while. :(

There. That's better.

Here are a couple of the ones I got. I swear she's harder than the toddlers. She wiggles and squirms and wiggles and squirms and wiggles and squirms. Did I mention she wiggles? Then she makes funny faces. -_-

The Beach

I had planned on doing a long post, but between getting 3-ish hours of sleep last night, volunteering for Bible Bee, and making Blueberry jam, I'm kind of tired. I should have left all my typos in as proof.  So just enjoy looking at pictures, Okay? Okay. Moving on.

Not Perfect

My mom often calls me a perfectionist. I used to think it wasn't true, but lately I've realized that it actually is. As a {beginner} photographer I look at other peoples pictures and think "WOW! They're good! All their images are tack sharp, they have great composition, their lighting is amazing," etc.,etc., and so forth. 

Oh, and let me take a moment to say, If you are ever talking to a photographer, and you are looking at their pictures and they happen to be amazing, don't comment on how nice their camera is. Yes, your equipment does affect your images, but ultimately, its the person, not the camera, that takes good pictures. Saying that their camera is great, is like telling a chef that their oven must be great because the food is good. Anyway, I'm rabbit trailing...where was I...

Sometimes I hesitate to post some of my pictures on here because their blurry, or the lighting is off, or whatever, but I'm learning that just because its not perfect, doesn't mean it's not good. Some of my favorite pictures of the kids are off center and fuzzy, but I love them because they show what they are really like. It's almost impossible to get Noah to sit still, or get Connor to smile without squeezing his eyes shut, and Audrey likes to open her mouth like a fish (I have no idea why), but it's how they are, and I love them. 

So, to those who worry about their pictures being perfect, don't. Chances are, nobody will notice the little faults that you do.

I Did It...

I finally started shooting in manual. Three years, and I'm just now starting. Crazy.

WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO SWITCH?!?

Seriously, it was so incredibly simple. The results are pretty amazing too. I still have a lot to learn, and my pictures are far from perfect, but I have only been using manual mode for a couple days now. I love how much control I have over everything!!! I even taught Cait how to use in less than five minutes. 

Yes, I still have blurry pictures here and there, but I was taking pictures of Audrey, and let me tell you, that kid is ball of energy.

It's been a while, so I wanted to let you I am STILL alive!

We've been enjoying getting to visit with our Grandma and sister-in-law, hence the silence.
